Welcome!![]() Home Inspections Buying a home Buying a home is very exciting! However, many of us can be blinded by 'love at first sight'- being charmed by how lovely and perfect the home appears to be on the surface and not noticing the defects. Only after you move in do you discover that hole in the door or that the furnace needs replacing. That's where Eagle Eye Inspections can help you. While you are focusing on how many bedrooms there are or if there is space for a family room, we focus on evaluating the major systems of the home such as plumbing, heating, electrical, and structural issues. Once you are aware of the conditions that exist, you can make an informed decision as to the proper value of the home in its present condition as well as costs that may be incurred by you in the future. Selling a home Selling your home, by contrast, can very trying and stressful. The time and work involved, not to mention the worry and uncertainty, can make this seem like a long and discouraging process. However, we can help make this a more positive experience for you. We can provide you with a presale inspection so you will know the exact condition of the home and be able to make necessary improvements before you put it on the market. This will likely increase your chances of selling your home sooner and experience less hassle when dealing with a prospective buyer. When you consider that a home is one of the most significant investments you can make, requesting a home inspection when buying or selling is a very wise choice. The fee you pay for a home inspection is a minimal investment that can protect your larger home investment while saving you a significant amount of money down the road.
Radon Testing According to the EPA, Radon is an inert gas (colorless and odorless) that causes lung cancer. If there are elevated levels of radon gas in your home, you greatly increase your chances of contracting lung cancer.
The EPA recommends that every home be tested for radon. If you are buying a home, we recommend a two day test using quality monitoring equipment. This allows a mitigation company to lower the radon levels before you move into the home or shortly afterward. Don't be fooled by cheap monitoring methods like the charcoal canisters, which are not as accurate as quality monitors and require up to two weeks or more before the results can be made available to you. We use a Radalink monitor, which is one of the best because it is very difficult to compromise the test outcome. Our test results are usually available 2 hours after radon monitoring is completed. Radon testing should be done even if you are not buying a home. Again, every home should be tested! Ideally, because conditions change over time, your home should be tested for radon every other year. Foundations shift, living habits change, and even a remodeling project can alter conditions enough to change the amount of radon you are exposed to. Even if you are building a new home, elevated levels of radon could exist once the home is completed.
Home Watch Eagle Eye Inspections is excited and proud to announce that we will soon be offering a home watch service in addition to our other quality home services. Whether you are away for the summer, winter, or just on vacation for a week or two, we can tailor a home watch to fit your needs. We can keep an eye on your house while you are away to insure that there are no break-ins, the furnace is functioning, the sump pump is working properly, the refrigerator/freezer is cold, the pipes are not leaking, no rodents or other pests are invading, and light control timers are being changed regularly for that lived in look. This list is not all inclusive. We can set up whatever level of emergency services you desire, like calling the police in case of a break-in or calling your plumber in case of a water leak. We can even make suggestions of things for you to take care of before leaving your house unattended. |
